Bite into summer with a visit to Ham Orchards.
Just about 45 minutes from Dallas, situated in the city of Terrell, along side Highway 80 you will find a little piece of summertime heaven. Spend and afternoon or just stop by the market for fresh produce. Whatever you do don’t let the summer slip by without a visit to Ham Orchards!
Nothing says summer like the first juicy bite of a fully ripened peach picked fresh off the tree!
With 5 orchards and over 10,000 trees consisting of over 30 varieties of peaches, Ham harvests these “jewels of summer” mid-may through mid-August. If you are a little “fuzzy” about which variety to choose, the knowledgable and friendly staff is there to assist!
But, it’s not all peaches at the orchard. You will discover a plethora of locally grown fresh produce, handmade fudge, wide range of locally made goodies, and a selection of pies as far as the eye can see (including buttermilk, coconut, and fudge). The pies are baked fresh on the premises, proof is in the amazing “fresh baked” aroma that greets you the minute you step in the quaint country store. Indulge in their famous homemade soft serve ice cream, named Dallas Observer’s Best Homemade Ice Cream and is made in small batches from orchard-ripe berries and peaches each morning.
If that is not enough to drive you there, Eddie Deen’s BBQ sure will! Get you fill of the best darn peach pulled pork or brisket around while relaxing under the covered pavilion and taking in the peaceful country atmosphere!
Life’s a peach and then you pie! I know, my puns are the pits!
