HEEELLLOOO summer! Although it has been in the high 90’s for well over a month here in Texas, summer never truly feels official until the first day of summer.

It’s June 21st-It’s OFFICIAL! Summer should be celebrated!

The days are longer, the sun is shining brighter, temperatures are higher, and teenagers are lazier!

But too often, summer comes to an end and we are left realizing we didn’t indulge in half  of the summer activities we all long for during the cooler seasons. This summer will be different with a little help from this “How to Summer” list. Check out this printable cutie by you are my fave.   A summer bucket list of sorts. Let’s take the time to remember all the reasons we love summer, create new traditions, and make the most out of the precious time of year we call summer!

Here are a few things to add to your list:

Watch a sunset, I mean REALLY watch a sunset! I am always in awe of the gorgeous Texas sky, and notice it’s vast beauty often from the dirty car window. Let’s take the time to find a great location (and maybe a delicious summer cocktail) and relish in the celestial wonder! Enjoy this time with friends or family (make it a new tradition), or catch some quiet time by yourself. Get lost in what nature has to offer (the beauty we often take for granted).

Have a picnic. Picnic Basket, checkered blanket and all! Channel your inner Martha Stewart and prepare your own picnic fare or purchase premade dishes like a delicious artisan Panini or Cuban Sandwich (call 15 minutes ahead for this one) from Jimmy’s Food Store.  Hint: pack single servings (no need to have to bring extra utensils), and use disposable containers like these cute sandwich boxes (presentation is everything!) from Sweet LuLu (eco friendly AND adorable, and a no one wants to deal with dirty dishes).

Go to a drive in movie! The Galaxy Drive-In located in Ennis, TX is open 7 days a week showing all the current blockbusters and has recently expanded to 7 screens and 2 snack bars serving popcorn to cheeseburgers and pizza. The Coyote Drive-In with locations in both Lewisville and Fort Worth offers an “red carpet” menu with entrees like Kobe Burgers, Sweet Chili Shrimp, and Carne Asada Street Tacos as well as an extended beer menu with an array of craft cans to please the most discerning of beer lovers.

Indulge in the sweet fruits of summer! Summer is the season of fresh fruits and vegetables! Test your green thumb with a raised bed garden, a hydroponic garden, or be a one pot wonder with a small container garden. Gardening not your thing? You can still enjoy the bounties of summer by visiting a local farmers market. Frisco will be opening the Frisco Fresh Market (Grand Opening June 30th) with 70,oo0 square feet of vendor space housing over 150 vendors.  Or right in the heart of downtown amongst the hustle of the big D since 1941 is the Dallas Farmers Market. The Dallas Farmers Market has both an indoor market with vendors and restaurants and an open-aired pavilion with regional vendors.

Just a few idea to make it a great start to a great summer! Whatever you choose to do remember the tans will fade, but the memories will last forever! Here’s to the best summer yet!
