Well, there is no breaking of plates or dancing around the tables but if you want to get your fix of greek food The Gyro Shop in Plano is your place.
Tucked in the corner of Coit Road and Legacy Road is this quaint greek staurant. Although small, there are still plenty of tables to eat at.
The “fast food” approach to this greek restaurant has a simplified menu and quick service. On the menu is either a gyro or a platter (with some side items available). Your choice of chicken, beef/lamb, or falafel in either a pita or over rice and salad (this is no time to be limiting your carbs, the freshly warmed pita is a must!). The food is fresh and made to order right in front of you “Chipotle style”.
I didn’t expect much walking in, (you know, lacking a cool greek name that I can’t pronounce and all) but when you are craving greek food you take your chances! I was more than pleasantly surprised! The beef and lamb gyro was delicious and the generous helping was enough to share (but of course I didn’t).
Of course the real test, aside from the deliciously fresh ingredients, is the taziki sauce. Let’s face it, the creamy white taziki sauce can make or break your gyro experience. The Gyro Shop did not disappoint. The sauce was perfectly seasoned.
Delicious, fresh food at a great price (lunch under $10)! And my greek craving was definitely satisfied (for now). Tell us about your favorite greek restaurant experiences!

And that’s a wrap, or a gyro, or a pita wrapped gyro!
