dL dog days of summer | find your favorite frozen treat
Why do we love ice cream so much? That little (or large) cone of perfection is truly a summer obsession! Nothing is better on those hot Texas days than the deliciousness of the sugary indulgence of ice cream. And so many choices!!! Whether you are the gelato, shaved ice, soft serve, fro yo, or frozen custard type, there is a plethora of varieties for everyone!

We chose 5 of our favorite spots to satisfy anyone’s creamy cravings.

1. Nom Nom’s Mexican Grill | 840 Virginia Pkwy | McKinney

Handmade daily, this spot features over 50 flavors of ice cream from the traditional cookie dough and Rocky Road to the exotic flavors of rose petal, strawberry jalapeño, and even Avocado.

2. Hi Sweetie Ice Cream Rolls | 8604 Preston Rd. | Plano

All the way from Thailand, this creamy dessert is made with milk poured on an iced grill, mixed with toppings, and “rolled up” into columns of frozen deliciousness right before your eyes, then topped with even more goodness. The experience is just as entertaining as it is delicious and the finished product is almost too pretty to eat (almost)!

3. Rita’s | 816 W. McDermott Dr. | Allen

One part Italian ice, one part frozen custard equals frozen perfection! While some can choose from one or the other this girl needs both!

4. Grif’s Sammie Shop | 190 East Stacy Dr | Allen

A twist on the traditional ice cream cone. Choose from 13 handmade daily and freshly baked cookies, pair with one of their 12 Blue Bell (a Texas favorite) and enjoy!
Malts, milkshakes, and brownie bowls are also available, but the sandwiches are a little piece of heaven!

5. Sweet Daze | 581 W. Campbell | Richardson

Soft serve ice cream made in house from scratch with intriguing flavors of cinnamon toast crunch and black velvet (don’t let the gray ice cream throw you off). Have it served in a cup, a cone, or on one of their beautifully decorated donuts (my fav)!
