Early settlers from Carrollton, Illinios named this north Texas town. The rich soil proved fruitful for planting crops, raising cattle and sheep, building homes and churches. A greater part of Carrollton land belonged to the Wichita Indians who later migrated to Oklahoma. By the mid 1920's, Carrollton held it's first bond election and organized a fire department, police force and adopted the first city charter in 1961.
